Whether you are an experienced camper or just starting your journey into the world of mobile freedom, read here what a type plate is and what information you can find on it.

What is an e-scooter?

A type plate (sometimes just called a type plate) is a label attached to your HYMER motorhome or Camper Van and contains important technical data and information for identifying your vehicle. It confirms that the vehicle complies with all applicable regulations and standards. It also documents the maximum permissible weights and loads for the vehicle - such as those of the axles - which should not be exceeded to ensure safe operation.

You will find a lot of useful information on a HYMER type plate that will help you to

  • identify the vehicle,
  • to procure suitable spare parts
  • document the vehicle owner together with the vehicle documents.

What information can be found on a type plate?

You will find all vehicle-relevant information on a type plate, including the information shown in the example:

For whom is this information important?

You will certainly need the information on a type plate again and again for the following cases, for example:

  • This means that workshops and dealers quickly have all the important technical specifications available and can order the right parts for their vehicle when ordering spare parts.
  • Licensing authorities also often require some technical data - such as the vehicle identification number and the vehicle model - especially if you want to register your vehicle.
  • Insurance companies need these details about your vehicle in order to be able to issue the insurance policy accordingly or, in the event of a claim investigation, to be able to process or settle the claim.
  • Testing organisations such as TÜV or Dekra require the information on the type plate in order to carry out their technical inspections and approvals.

Where is the type plate attached to my HYMER vehicle?

You will usually find the HYMER type plate on the right-hand side wall in the rear, lower area of your HYMER motorhome.

On your Hymer Van, the type plate with the serial number is usually attached to the right-hand driver's cabin door.
