What do I need to know about the central locking for my HYMER motorhome with a Mercedes Benz base?

The central locking on your HYMER motorhome based on Mercedes Benz provides you with optimal support for a successful travel experience. Read here how you can make optimal use of the central locking system.

The central locking in your HYMER motorhome based on Mercedes Benz offers you various options for use.

Keyless start function

Your HYMER motorhome is equipped with a keyless start function. With this function you can use the start-stop function in your motorhome and start the engine of your vehicle without putting the key in a keyhole.

Please first unlock your vehicle with the remote control key. Then open the driver's door of your vehicle. Make sure that your remote control key is in the detection area (1). This detection area is approximately 60cm around the area of the climate control panel. You can also use the key holder in the cup holder. If you have met all the conditions, you can start the vehicle's engine using the start/stop button.

Basically, your HYMER motorhome supports you with an acoustic and visual signal when locking and unlocking your vehicle.

Important:

In an integrated vehicle, the open body door, as well as the storage compartment flaps and service compartment flaps are shown as an open passenger door in the display of your instrument cluster.

On a semi-integrated vehicle, you will see the open body door, the storage compartment flaps and service compartment flaps as an open sliding door in your instrument cluster.

Global vs. Selective Control

The global or selective control of your central locking allows you to control doors (and flaps) differently.

With global control, you can lock all doors using the lock button on your remote control key. To do this, the doors and flaps must be closed and must not be displayed as open in the instrument cluster. By pressing the unlock button you can unlock all doors.

With the selective control you can control the doors individually. To activate selective control, you must press and hold the locking and unlocking buttons on your remote control key simultaneously for several seconds. The battery indicator light flashes to indicate that you have successfully switched to selective control.

If you press the unlock symbol on your remote control key once on your integrated HYMER motorhome , you will open the driver's door. Press the unlock symbol again to open the body door and all other doors that are connected via the central locking system.

Press the unlock symbol on the radio key of your semi-integrated HYMER motorhome once to open the driver and passenger doors. If you press the unlock symbol again you can open the body door of your motorhome.

To lock the vehicle, press the lock symbol on your remote key once.

By holding down the lock and unlock buttons on the remote key, you can exit the selective control mode and return to global control.

You have another option for locking and unlocking the doors and flaps using buttons in the driver's cab.

Locking and unlocking via buttons in the cab

You can always lock and unlock the doors using the lock and unlock button in the cab. To do this, press the corresponding button.

You can always lock and unlock the doors using the lock and unlock button in the cab. To do this, press the corresponding button.

In semi-integrated vehicles, you will find the locking and unlocking buttons on the cab door.

On integrated vehicles, you will find these buttons on the dashboard to the right below the steering wheel.

With your HYMER motorhome you also have the option of putting your vehicle in so-called “camper mode”.

Do you already know “camper mode”?

Camper mode is a special function to reduce the quiescent current consumption of the starter battery when camping. It is automatically activated on your HYMER vehicle through the following steps:

1. Parking the vehicle (ignition off)

2. Extend the step

3. Open the body door

In active camper mode, the signal status of the doors/flaps (storage compartment flaps, service flaps and body doors) is always set to "open", thus successfully reducing the quiescent current consumption in the starter battery.

How can you recognize active camper mode on your vehicle?

In your HYMER motorhome you will see a symbol in the instrument cluster (in the driver's cab) that indicates "open doors".

This symbol remains visible in the instrument cluster even when the body door is closed, indicating active camper mode.

How can you get out of camper mode?

Here you have two options:

1. Turn on the vehicle's ignition

The vehicle now recognizes all doors again and checks the current status of the doors (doors open or closed).

2. By successfully locking your vehicle. To do this, press the lock symbol on your remote key twice.

If you just press the lock symbol on your remote control key once, the body door can still be opened and you will not leave camper mode. Locking was therefore not successful.

Close the body door

You will also receive a red RFID chip for your HYMER BML (if you select the comfort door option) and Venture S motorhome. With this chip you can lock your body door once you hold it against the receiver field on the body door.

Please note that only the body door is locked here. All other doors and flaps are not affected by this function and may not be locked. Before leaving the vehicle behind, please check that you have closed all doors and flaps accordingly.

To open the body door, simply hold your chip in front of the receiver field again. Please note that only the body door can be opened here.

We have put together a few tips for you on the topic of central locking of your integrated HYMER motorhome based on Mercedes Benz.

Tips

  • Protect key battery from discharge: You can deactivate the keyless start function on your key. To do this, briefly press the lock button on your key twice. The indicator light on the key lights up twice briefly and once long , confirming that the function has been deactivated. Please don't forget that you have deactivated your key. You can reactivate the function by pressing any button on your key.
Please note: if you deactivate the keyless start function, you can only start your vehicle by inserting the key into the designated key compartment in the lower area of the center console!
  • Use the deactivation of the keyless start function when your vehicle is idle for a longer period of time (for example over the winter break) - this way you protect your key's battery. Please don't forget to reactivate the keyless start function after the winter break!
  • During your camping stay, it is best to keep your key outside of the reception area in the driver's cab so that the vehicle can go to sleep. This is how you protect your vehicle’s starter battery. In a partially integrated vehicle, the reception area extends to around the B-pillar.
  • If you do not open the vehicle within 40 seconds of unlocking, the vehicle will lock itself and the anti-theft protection will be activated again.
  • If the battery indicator light on your key no longer lights up when you press the buttons, the battery on your key is empty and you should replace the battery.
  • The doors lock automatically at a speed of 15km/h. However, please ensure that you have properly locked all doors and flaps before setting off.
