How do I clean the water system on my HYMER vehicle?

Regular cleaning of the water system in your HYMER vehicle is important to ensure the cleanliness of the fresh water and to avoid the formation of bacteria.

Why should the water system in your vehicle be cleaned regularly?

Fresh water tanks, hoses and taps that are not cleaned regularly provide a good breeding ground for bacteria. This biofilm, which can settle in tanks, on the tank walls or on the hoses, must be counteracted and prevented from forming by regularly cleaning the water system.

How often should you clean the water system?

You should carry out a thorough cleaning of the entire water system at least once a year. Ideally, you clean the water system once at the beginning of the season and at the end of the season.

It is best to clean your vehicle's waste water tank after each use/trip, as this is where the waste water (grey water) collects and where food residue and other deposits can quickly form a biofilm.

How do you clean the water system?

1. Clean the water tank

  • Empty the water tank and close the drain opening
  • Remove the water tank cap and fill the water tank with water with a little detergent
  • You can now clean the water tank with a standard dishwashing brush until there is no longer any visible deposits
    Also clean the pump housing
  • If possible, clean the fresh water probes by hand through the cleaning opening
  • Then rinse the water tank with plenty of drinking water

If cleaning as described above is not possible due to the design of the water tank, you can also clean the water tank with chemical cleaning agents. Please note the cleaning agent manufacturer's application instructions.
