Your HYMER dealer is your contact when it comes to whether seat retrofitting is possible in your individual case. The feasibility of this must be clarified at HYMER.
If the necessary parts are available and can be installed subsequently, it must be further checked whether the vehicle needs to be increased. Depending on the extent of the vehicle's equipment, an additional load is required, as an increased number of seats increases the standard weight relevant for registration. This must not exceed the permissible total weight of the vehicle!
Obligation to register: If additional seats are installed for use while driving, acceptance must be carried out with a test report from the manufacturer by a recognized technical testing organization. The retrofitting must then be entered into the vehicle documents
The following documents are essential for this:
- Certificate of safety from the manufacturer
- report
- Work instructions for retrofitting
Additional Information:
Belt points: The seat belts may only be attached to tested points. This is described and confirmed in the report. For vehicles first registered on October 20, 2007, seats perpendicular to the direction of travel are no longer permitted. Lap belts are only used on rear-facing seats.
Fastening the seat base: Forces arising in the event of an accident must be transferred from the seat frame directly to the chassis. This requires either inserts in the floor that cannot be compressed or, in vehicles with double floors, spacer blocks that can bridge the distance from the chassis to the walking floor/seat frame. These components must also be tested.
Weight of the seats: An average restraint system adds approximately 30kg of additional weight per seat.
